How to make a formal survey?

In the inca platform, there is no enable button to make your survey a more formal one. However, there are a few things you can customize to set the formal tone of your survey.

1 Design

  • You can change the image of the "Bot Interviewer Avatar" in the Overview tab or Preview tab, e.g. use a professional moderator's picture to make it more formal.

  • In the Greeting Question in the Question Builder tab, you could also modify the Question Text for your formal introductions. You could also modify the Greeting text options, changing from default to your preferred Greeting Image or Custom Greeting Text.

Please see the example design:

2 Language

  • You have full control of your survey language to make it more formal (except for some specialty questions like Guided Fantasy). For question types like Greeting, and Departing, where default wording is provided, you can change the wording to make them more formal. (To learn more about modifying the Greeting Question, please click the article here. To learn more about modifying the Departing Question, please click the article here.)
  • If you are using SmartProbe and find that the automatically generated probing questions are not formal enough, you can enable the Research Context in Conversational Settings and inform the bot that this is a survey intended for a business sample and ask it to use more formal language. Alternatively, you can enable the Trained Models and provide 2-3 examples of probing questions to set up the tone, the bot would learn from your examples and adjust accordingly.
