How to set up a Numeric Question?

How to set up a Numeric Question?

Main Use:

This question type is mainly used to collect exact numerical values (e.g. exact age, currency or spending, number/units, percentage). However, this does NOT include collecting phone numbers, postal codes etc or collectively known as string numbers. Unlike string numbers, Numeric questions can collect numeric values that can do math or counting.

If you want to collect string numbers, please use the question type Formatted Text/PII.

How to set up in platform:

1.  In the Questionnaire Builder page, add a new question OR insert a new question by hovering over an existing question and clicking the green (+) button (either above or below the existing question)

2. Select Numeric from the popup menu that appears

3. Write your question number or label in the upper box and write your question in the Question Text Box.

4. In the Numeric Format, input the required currency and/or other units before or after the input field.

Useful Control Settings

Allow Decimal numbers

To show more decimal places for a more precise value, we can also toggle allow decimals numbers to take account the exact response/number (e.g. exact price).

1,000 separator

To collect data with big denominations, we can also toggle 1,000 separator to format numbers with a thousands separator (e.g. yearly spending).

Allow Minimum Number

This option controls the participant to input a minimum value, when specified (e.g need to answer at least 1 instead of 0).

Allow Maximum Number

This option controls the participant to input a maximum value, when required.

Allow User Corrections

To allow participants to update or change answers after submitting, toggle on Allow User Corrections.

Show not applicable

To give the participant a choice to not answer the question if the question is not applicable to them. You can toggle on Show not applicable, and also edit the wording for "Not applicable" in the Not Applicable Text Box.
