With ANSWER REFERENCING, the user can customize the wording for each participant by referencing the answers from a previous question. Answer referencing can be added to the toolbox for question wording. You may choose to reference TEXT format answer or IMAGE format answer.
How to set it up:
1. In your question text box, move the cursor to where you want to insert the wording/answer in the previous question and then click Answer Referencing.
2. Select the source question and select the Answer Referencing Options.
Let's use Single-Choice question as an example. After selecting the source question, we first need to specify whether we want to reference TEXT format or IMAGE format in Reference type format.
When ANSWER REFERENCING a TEXT Format option, you can change the Text casing (for example uppercase all)

In the survey chat, the answer referencing will look like this:

When you want to pipe in an answer option for "Others (specify)" and you want to show the exact response in the chatbot (instead of "Others" text), you can change this in the "Other text" drop down and select "Specify Wording".
When ANSWER REFERENCING an IMAGE Format option, you can also control the size of the image.

Note that it will only show the image and not the text label in the survey chat as a new speech bubble.

Please see the details in the next section.
Other commonly used question types in ANSWER REFERENCE
Multiple Choice Question
When ANSWER REFERENCING Multiple options, the order of answers shown in the survey chat could be descending or ascending order.

Rank Order Question
When ANSWER REFERENCING Rank Order Question, the options are similar to a multiple choice question but you may choose to answer reference a single answer by Selecting the Rank(for example: Answer reference the Top Reason in using Brand A, i.e. Rank 1)

Virtual Question
By using Virtual Question in ANSWER REFERENCING, we would be able to show dynamic wording that is not directly referenced from the option wording. In addition, we can show dynamic wording based on some complex logic.
For Example, we want to ask the participants to what extent they agree that the company offers special products and services for students [IF THEY ARE STUDENTS] customers like me [IF THEY ARE NOT STUDENTS]. Note that we have another question at the start asking if they are students or not.
In this case, we would first create a Virtual Question with 2 variables - the first writing "student" in the Display Text and defining the logics that they are students, the second writing "customers like me" in the Display Text and defining the logics that they are NOT students.
After that, we Answer Reference this Virtual Question in the question wording "To what extent do you agree that the company offers special products and services for [Virtual Question]?".

Tradeoff Ranking Question
We can also ANSWER REFERENCE Top Choice from Tradeoff Ranking Question.
You may use the Text and Image option format, but the suggested format in answering referencing this type of question is IMAGE.
Please note that there is a chance some participants don't like any of the ideas/options in the Tradeoff Ranking, then there won't be a Top Choice from those participants. In order to avoid referencing any results, it's recommended to add a pre-condition that only shows the question (with answer reference from a Tradeoff Ranking question), when the Tradeoff Ranking question INCLUDES one of the ideas/options in the Top Choice.

Open-Ended Question
When ANSWER REFERENCING Open-ended answer, all the text answers will be shown in the survey chat and you can adjust the Text Casing
